Under the CEPA AfEES project, Dr. G. Giannakidis, acting as NKE 2 Senior Energy Efficiency Expert on behalf of EnTC, will lead the design and delivery of country-level assignments for the preparation of National Energy Efficiency Strategies and Action Plans (NEESAPs) in selected African countries. This role will encompass stakeholder engagement, situational analysis and policy and action plan formulation, validation, and adoption. Dr. Giannakidis will coordinate closely with AFREC, regional CREEEs, and relevant national authorities to ensure that strategies are comprehensive, data-driven, and aligned with AfEES continental objectives, including the translation of the high-level energy productivity targets into actionable sectoral pathways. The work will also involve integrating energy efficiency data enhancement activities into the NEESAP process, developing roadmaps for improved data collection and indicator tracking. Throughout the assignment, the approach will prioritise alignment with continental and regional priorities, incorporation of best international practices, and the creation of actionable,  and measurable national actions that will contribute directly to the AfEES targets for 2050 and 2063.
